The Winchester® Model 70 is the bolt-action rifle that all others are compared to; and the Super Grade Model 70 is the pinnacle of blending functionality and durability with art. The finely checkered Grade V/VI fancy walnut stock features an ebony forearm tip, and a Shadowline cheekpiece places your eye in perfect alignment with scope. A steel crossbolt reinforces the stock while the decorative ends on the crossbolt add a stylish refinement along with the inletted sling swivel studs. One-piece bottom metal with a steel floorplate adds rigidity and durability; and all exterior steel surfaces feature a high-polish, blued finish. The stock features a Pachmayr® Decelerator® recoil pad. The "pre-'64" Model 70 action utilizes a large claw extractor to provide maximum surface contact on the cartridge's rim for sure extraction of the spent casing; and a solid blade-type ejector reliably clears empty cases from the action. A 3-position safety allows the shooter to load or unload the Model 70 with the safety engaged in the mid position; and the bolt locks with the safety in the rearward position, where it is extremely unlikely to get knocked off safe when carrying the rifle over rugged terrain. Winchester's M.O.A.™ Trigger System has zero trigger "creep" prior to releasing the firing pin, and no "overtravel" after firing the rifle. The excellent trigger, combined with a hammer-forged barrel and a bedded, forged steel receiver, provides exceptional accuracy. The Winchester Model 70 Super Grade Bolt-Action Rifle is an elegant choice for serious big game hunters.
